Course Description

GNDR 302 examines a variety of topics related to contraception, gender, and culture, including historical aspects of contraceptive use, patterns of contraceptive use in different cultures, contraceptive decision-making, the effects of hormonal contraceptives on well-being and sexuality, and the development of new contraceptive technologies. Issues of gender and power, and political and religious issues related to contraception will be a particular focus as well as critical evaluation of research methods and findings.
This class is a seminar focused on discussion of readings and topics. Class participation in these discussions is a requirement of the class.
